I know how much my Mum hates it when I come home really late from training every Monday and Wednesday. There’s really nothing material that I can give her on her birthday, so I decided not to go for training, and to spend some time with her and the rest of the family on her birthday. My Mummy is young! She’s only 46, and she looks like she’s in her 30s! I hope will maintain my youthful looks when I’m in my 40s too!
We had dinner at Chat Masala Too. Indian food so that my grandparents could eat too. I don’t think my grandparents can appreciate anything more than Indian food, which they have every day! Chat Masala Too is located at Greenwood Avenue, along the same stretch as the famous Lana’s Cake Shop, Shin Yuu Japanese Restaurant and Greenwood Fish Market (I heard the Fish & Chips there is awesome!).
When I arrived, I was pretty taken aback, as I guess I was picturing something more authentic. However, the place looked like every other restaurant around it. Nothing looked Indian, not even the waiters. However, when the food was served, it was really authentic Indian cuisine. So good, even my grandparents gave the thumbs up!

We ordered about 8 dishes in total (some not shown here). I can’t do without tandoori chicken! This is just about the best tandoori chicken I’ve tasted. Tender, succulent, smokey. Perfect. Out of all the dishes, I would recommend the tandoori chicken, cauliflower and the chickpeas curry. Really amazing food! (:
We had dessert (there goes my diet!) as usual. Crispy banana roll with vanilla ice cream, coffee kulfi, Bailey’s kulfi, strawberry mojito and lychee maguerita. The coffee kulfi, which is ice cream, is also excellent! The rich aroma of coffee… Oh so good! Heaven in a cup for coffee lovers indeed! I decided to also eat the Bailey’s kulfi with hot coffee. Self-made affogato. Every one at the table thought it was genius! Hehe.
I’m glad Mummy enjoyed her day out with the family. She was even able to get my brother out of Tekong. HAH! A mother’s love ❤
Happy birthday! (:
Now back to some more mugging. I am so tired and my body is soooo sore from yesterday’s workout at Woodlands Stadium. The upcoming photoshoot for Muay Thai is totally motivating me. HAHAHA. Going to be in sports bra and Muay Thai shorts. Time to train even harder.
Go hard or go home.

Review: Rock and Retail Asymmetric Pseudo Two-Piece Top in Royal Purple

I’ve been really fortunate to get a hold of this piece from Rock and Retail. They are a relatively new online shop, but the clothes that they offer are unique and of high quality (:
I apologise for my sleepy and slightly chubbier morning face, but I snapped this picture in the morning while deciding what to wear to school! A dilemma every day!
When I received this top in the mail, I was actually expecting cotton (didn’t read description thoroughly!) but the purple version of this top is actually made of lycra. It’s extremely good, thick and heavy lycra, which is great as it drapes beautifully.
I love the one-side off-shoulder as it creates that peek-a-boo effect that we all love! The asymmetric hemline also makes it so much more outstanding. Oh! And have you seen the back? It gets better!

FINALLY got to go bouldering yestreday! We’ve been planning to do this for the longest time, yet we never really got to it as something always got in the way. But finally! Off to Yishun Safra we went, a long walk in the drizzle from Yishun MRT. It was a terribly cold day ):
We got quite lost looking for the boulder gym. We were under the impression that it was a stand-alone building.
The aircon was really at full blast!
Second floor of the boulder gym.

Our first attempt at bouldering! 😀
He’s pretty good at it (:
I told myself that I’d join SMU’s Climb Team next year after I ‘retire’ from the Muay Thai Fight Team. It’s really fun, although my forearms and fingers were sore after the session. I love a good challenge! My AdiZero… Probably not the best shoe for bouldering. I gotta get myself some climbers’ shoes when I start climbing more often! I want to try the high wall too. I think I’d prefer that. I’m not afraid of heights, I’m just not so fond of falling off the boulder and onto the padded ground. I’m afraid I’d fall wrongly and hurt myself! ):
It’s already 3:57am. Up studying for my Marketing 101 quiz this Tuesday. SIGH! It sucks when the only time you can study productively is after everyone goes to bed! This is so bad for my health ):
It’s finally the weekend! Everyone, please give yourselves a break. Sleep more than 8 hours, go out, eat good food (like mooncakes!), meet up with friends, just have fun! 🙂
As I was saying before, I can’t wait for the next collection to be up at Whimsical Wants. I have an unhealthy obsession with clothes. Next post I’ll show you my cupboard. Lucky Mummy included a walk in wardrobe for me when we renovated our place!
Natalya: Wear it in as many ways as you can think of! An extremely versatile piece which is perfect for school, work and play!

I did say it was extremely versatile!
The beauty of this top is how the straps can be manipulated in different ways. The straps are actually pretty thick, so if you’re not comfortable showing too much shoulder (when you’re going to school or work), you can wear it how I did to school (second pic). Natalya also comes with anti-slip at the bust, so no worries about exposing anything 😛
I would wear it as a toga when I’m out with friends. I’m a big fan of togas! There’s an added security compared to tubes, so you don’t have to keep pulling up your top which is soooooo unsightly! I twisted the straps to create a thinner toga strap (:
Mint is also a colour I am lacking in my wardrobe. And I think it goes well on most skin colours! Wear this with shorts, jeans or a bandage skirt as I did during the photoshoot. Be create with Natalya! 😀
Other pieces I really liked:
Leyla is cute cute cute!!! I actually happen to like polka dots, but I think my friends think polka dots are too girly for me. While changing into this during the shoot, I came out wearing it as a skirt (I really thought it was a skirt!). But tadah! What a wonderful discovery (:
I love the material of Jessa. Extremely soft and smooth! I love the sunshine yellow, so vibrant! And the braided neckline adds a beautiful detail to this top. Perfect for casual days (:
Sigh… Too many pieces I like. Haha!
Whimsical Wants Collection 9: Enchant Me
Monday, 12 September at 8pm. Be there! (:

It’s finally the “end of the week” for me, as my last lesson of the week is on Thursday. I get to sleep in for the day! In the past week, I haven’t slept more than 5 hours or so per day and the fatigue is really getting to me. In addition, this stupid rash is still not going away. I do feel better already, but I still have that perpetual headache, and apparently I look like crap because everyone keeps saying I look so tired! I even push myself to go for training because I hate missing my Muay Thai!
Today, I finally got my iPhone! Yes, I know I’m really outdated. Laggard. Haha! I never really felt the need to get one. But recently, my Nokia (yes, Nokia) has been up to no good. The vibration function doesn’t seem to work when SMSes come in, and people’s voices get all fuzzy over calls. Mummy got me the iPhone under her old number, so I’m changing numbers people! I will now be using 2 numbers!
Off to sleep for me! Tomorrow I’ll be refreshed and rejuvenated, so I can study real hard! A cookout at my place tomorrow! Time to look for a new recipe (:
Goodnight!

Love,
Maddie
Just ended my International Economics A class. Am SMUgging at my favourite location in school, just beside Mr Bean. I think Mr Bean smells really good. Maybe I should stop tempting myself with the smells
Have been feeling under the weather for a few days now. I suspect my second onset of this horribly annoying “viral rash”. Of course it’s just a self-diagnosis, but I think it’s Pityriasis Rosea. So I’m the lucky 3% of the population which gets it in their lifetime and the even luckier 2% to get a second round of it! ARGH. It lives me feeling fatigued more than sick. But fortunately, I’m slowly starting to feel a little better!
Saturday was another photoshoot with Whimsical Wants. I must say that I already can’t wait for the next launch, though the new one will be out tomorrow (watch out for it)! Hehe 😀
My favourite piece so far: Adel. Nude (always a classy colour) skater dress with shoulder pads (not too strong).
I admit I was eyeing this dress from the moment I saw it. It’s made of really really thick, excellent material and for the price you’re paying, it’s certainly value for money! I’ve been itching to get a skater dress as they’re figure flattering (Adel comes with a black sash to further flatter your waist), feminine and never out of style.
The shoulder pads are not so thick that they look dramatic, in fact, when I told my friends that there were shoulder pads, they didn’t believe me! Rather, the pads just add more structure to the dress without adding bulge.
One caveat is that the dress is a little on the short side, so you taller girls may treat it as a tunic. It goes well with leggings or skinnies as well. But of course, you can always just wear safety shorts and not worry too much (:
I give this lovely piece two thumbs up! Pretty (:
Now back to mugging. FOCUS!
Love,
Maddie
It kinda sucks to have 3 morning lessons in a row. Lesson learnt. Never bid for morning classes unless absolutely necessary. Fortunately, I only have one lesson a day this semester. Unfortunately, since training starts at 7pm, I have between 12 and 7pm to ‘mug’. I’m no mugger, no matter how hard I try. I wish I could but I just can’t. People mug till they’re stressed, but I’m stressed because I can’t mug! NOOOOO 😦
I got back from training really late.
A cute illustration of Crossfit! I think my favourite is still the kettlebell swings and tyre flips!

I can flip huge ass tyres too!
Yup! That’s me doing some push ups! 🙂
Handstands!
Good news is that the Muay Thai clinics ended today. Means proper training for us seniors. I got trained by Terence today and it was simply… AMAZING! It feels great to finally push myself so hard again. I wanna keep training harder. I miss the feeling of soreness and fatigue associated with a good, challenging workout. It keeps me going and it makes me feel so alive!
I love this. So true.
It’s 2.18am. I’ve got Management of People at Work (MPW) at 3.30pm. Phew, at least I get to sleep in! SMU life is hectic, but I’m blessed to be able to study here!
Love,
Maddie
Yesterday was an entire day out Mummy. We were at Vivocity buying… Mooncakes! All $900 worth of them! (: Can’t wait to indulge in them. The family will be coming over later for dinner followed by mooncakes and tea. Gotta work out twice as hard after!
Now it’s time for another review (:
Another must-have piece from Whimsical Wants that I simply adore. My first pair of skorts! ❤

I wore this ensemble to school just the other day and Cindy said “Someone’s looking pretty today!”.
I love the colour of the skorts. Striking, bold. I usually keep to the conventional denim shorts, black or dark denim, black leggings… In other words, lots of dark colours, which is frankly kind of boring! I decided to pair it with this navy blue top I bought from Bangkok for a contrast, and I think it looks great!
It comes with cute, little buttons all the way down and is elasticized at the back so it would fit most sizes. I also think skorts are perfect because they can be short, but they don’t billow up in the wind, and you can go up escalators without worrying about someone ‘upskirting’ you! For me, the occasional tomboy, that means being able to sit in a less ladylike manner (because we all know that crossing our legs can be tiring too!) 😀

This piece is actually a Topshop-inspired one. So it’s definitely a steal!
Love Whimsical Wants! ❤
After such a long holiday which lasted 4 months this summer, it’s kind of hard to start adapting back to university life. SMU is really mad. Everything is hectic, and after last semester’s straight Bs (which really sucks by the way!), I’ve got no time to lose this semester. It’s 3am and I’m up doing my readings. I’m going to be ever ready for class! Year 2, I shall conquer you!
In the first 2 weeks of school, I’ve dedicated lots of my time to SMU Muay Thai with Vivace -our CCA exhibition day- as well as our Muay Thai clinic, which we just extended into its second week! We had over 170 sign ups last Friday. How awesome is that? (:
Here’s the week (or two!) in photos:

Demo padwork with Jin at Vivace. No easy job (though I’m smiling!).

My girls ❤ They’re both so pretty! (:

Cindy and I.
Doing up the club board.

Group Leader-ing for SMUX Nitebike 2011. 11 hours, 63km.
It’s been an eventful couple of weeks. Never a dull day for me!
