Review: Whimsical Wants – Lanelle & Ivana

I’ve been neglecting this blog for awhile now as the crazy project weeks just ended. This is the last week of school, then it’s study break followed by exams in week 15 and week 16.

On Sunday, I traveled down to town to pass my BFF, Cindy her birthday present. She’s such a lovely girl. School wouldn’t be the same without her! ❤

I wore Whimsical Wants‘ Ivana flare skirt. Don’t you think it’s a beauty? (: The colour is more orange than red though! But whatever colour is it, the fabric is fantastic and the cut is flattering and I find that it’s the perfect length! It also comes with the blue ribbon belt which gives a really nice contrast against the orange.

Me at Campus Green. The flower is the same colour as my skirt!

Another thing I like about high waisted skirts is that it actually hides your tummy when you’re having a “fat” day!

This piece is definitely a must-get! Very feminine and it goes well with just about anything. I’m wearing size S and it fits well (I’m UK 4/6 for bottoms!)

Another piece I kept for myself: Lanelle Scallop Tiered top

A very pretty top from the new collection! (:

The colour is slightly cream or off-white, which I really like, as it goes well against tanned skin like mine!

I wore it with a dusty pink sash to school to give the top more colour.

Look at the laser cut design! Very intricate.

The next time I wear this, I’ll probably wear it with the Ivana flare skirt, or with a bandage skirt. Definitely a keeper! (:

Here are my other favourites from the upcoming collection:

Very comfy pair of shorts made of corduroy! Love the fabric and the colour of it (:

Made of super soft chiffon and comes with shoulder pads! I like it!

Super sweet soft pink tube top. Love the criss-cross details at the bust (:

Whimsical Wants will be launching its 15th collection: What Makes You Beautiful, tonight, 9th November, at 8pm! Stay tuned!

And if you haven’t already done so, do LIKE Whimsical Wants‘ page on Facebook and take part in the giveaway quick!

Love,

Maddie

Review: Whimsical Wants – Orange Crochet Detail dress

Here’s another beauty by Whimsical Wants!

Orange is still the colour of the season. Stand out in this figure-flattering orange dress with the low V-back and beautiful crochet details. Simple and chic (:

I was pretty averse to wearing the colour orange until pretty recently. Now I love it! Everyone should own an orange piece. It’s not only the colour of the season, it also happens to flatter many skin tones!

You will also love the soft cotton material used. It’s extremely comfortable and stretchy, so no worries about any unsightly bulges.

The low v-back is a perfect complement to the relatively high neckline. It’s not too low (am wearing a normal bra), keeping this dress sophisticated and sexy at the same time!

To me, the highlight of this dress is it’s beautiful crochet detail both on the front and on the back. I had a few people comment that it gives out somewhat of a “qipao” look. Maybe I can save it for Chinese New Year then! 😛 Remember people, festive season is approaching, so start stocking up on your party clothes. I think this will definitely be one of mine (:

My recommendations for the upcoming Whimsical Wants Collection 14: All Things Sweet

Colour true to the above stock picture! Ain’t it gorgeous? (:

I really love this sweet pink number too. Very cute and feminine bow detail (:

Many of my friends love this embroidered top too! Beautiful, cheery, and a wide neckline to show off your collarbones (though mine’s a little non-existent)! Sweet ❤

Whimsical Wants will be launching at 8pm tonight! Watch out, we’re only getting better. Hehe (:

Reasons to be fit

It’s 1am and I’m still procrastinating. This will really be the death of me.

I saw this on Facebook and started laughing while mugging in school with Ivy and Wei Guang. Hehe. Studying… I sometimes feel like I’m reducing my lifespan by doing it, but at the same time, it’s probably good for my brain and hence, it’s probably healthy as well. As long as in moderation, just like food. You should never study your life away!

I thought I’d blog about this wonderful blog I came across.

Reasons To Be Fit – I think it’s really inspiring. I’m thinking of sending in my own “reason to be fit”.

These are a few that I can really relate to:

Because I need to kick ass in the ring.

Because your body is a temple. Take care of it. Health is wealth.

Because I want guys to stare at me when I lift heavier weights than them in the gym.

Endorphins.

This website is really empowering. Gosh… Makes me wanna train so hard!

I had a horrible week with horrible bloating and had two people tell me it looked like I gained weight. Which kinda hurts, especially since I really put in a lot of work to maintaining whatever figure I might have. I’m not naturally skinny. I’ve got “thick” legs from my years of Fencing and Squash and now Muay Thai. I’d prefer to call them strong. I used to look enviously at other girls with their small thighs… Maybe I still do. But most of the time, I’ve come to accept and love my body for the way it is. Why shouldn’t I, right? I think as girls, we just feel so much pressure from all these emaciated images we’ve been bombarded with. It’s just horrible. I like how the women in my photos above look. They look so healthy, so strong, so alive. HEY, they have abs, they have cute butts, they have muscles. They are hot. They inspire me to be a better version of myself. So from today onwards, no more excuses. If it means something to you, you’d do it. If it doesn’t, you’ll come up with an excuse.

I hope I’ve got you thinking.

Love,
Maddie

Review: Whimsical Wants – Pale Yellow Weaved Top

Here’ s my top pick from the upcoming Whimsical Wants launch!

I wore this weaved spag top to the Muay Thai BBQ last weekend. I love the weave detailing at the bust. I think it is very nicely done, and you can adjust the weaves to as neatly as you want, and however best it flatters your body.

The colour looks really good. It’s a pale yellow, and looks like creamy durian. Haha! But this colour looks really good. I feel like it makes fair people look fairer and also flatters tanned skin too, because it’s a nice contrast (:

It comes with adjustable straps too, so you may adjust to the desired length. Having a short short body like me means that half of the time, my shorts disappear as the top is relatively long. I pulled my shorts a little lower before taking this photo in my ‘garden’. I still prefer wearing this with shorts, but I would also wear this with leggings/skinnies and even tucked into a bandage skirt!

This top is definitely a keeper for me! Thank you Whimsical Wants! (:

Back to work for me!

I woke up pretty early considering I slept at 2.30am. Passed my friend Whimsical Wants’ reversible dress from the last collection. He bought it for his girlfriend. Aww, how sweet! (:

Working hard on my Business Processes term paper. And guess what? I’m wearing another one of my favourite Whimsical Wants top ❤

Love,

Maddie

8 October Onwards

I finally have some time to blog. No, I haven’t finished my BP term paper yet. In fact I’ve only worked on the outline, which I believe will aid me with efficiency, so here I am! Finally, some decent sleep and I’m feeling much better though my nose is still like a leaky tap. It’ll be off to school soon for MPW, followed by IEA meeting right after.

I shall start with the BBQ last Saturday!

I had been studying at home for my IEA mid terms and so we reached Kelvin’s place pretty late, at about 8.30pm or so. Other than the Ham Chee Peng (first time ever trying this, don’t mock me!) that I had from Dough Culture, I was pretty hungry and looking forward to delicious BBQ food like chicken wings and the likes. But when I arrived, there was hardly anything left ): Ok, maybe it was our fault that we reached like very late… But next time, we definitely need to order more and having excess is always better than having hungry guests! We ended up having KFC, which took an hour and a half to arrive. And it gave me a tummy ache that lasted the night and the following morning! ):

We were then ushered back to Kelvin’s house to play drinking games. But I don’t drink, for the obvious reasons. It’s bad for me, it’s counter to my healthy lifestyle, it in no means makes me happy and worst of all, it tastes really bad! Alcohol is a big no no for me! Not that I never ever drink. But I’ve drunk too much this year in Laos and in Thailand. I think it’s enough for a long time. I realise that the majority of people drink… So I must be special. Hehe! Good girl (:

Anyway, Kelvin lives in such an ulu place. There’s really no public transport nearby. So I really should’ve driven to the BBQ instead of taking the train (the new Circle Line) and then a cab. But I knew I’d probably have to do lots of chauffeuring, and I was tired and it’s not my car (I don’t pay for petrol), and I hadn’t driven in months so I didn’t think it a good idea to do so. By the time we left, it was almost 1am I think? Was so tired and was emo-ing in the cab. Plus, it was raining so heavily… I was wondering why the hell I hadn’t stayed home and studied more instead of attending this BBQ. ARGH! Sorry… I was just really stressed with IEA on my mind perpetually…

So it’s Monday, and I’d slept an hour and was sitting for the mid terms. I don’t know how much the entire week of studying actually helped. The paper was pretty killer. I just hope I did better than most so the bell curve will help me. Then again, how likely is that? SMU students are smart! But thank God it is over now. The next hell thing was MPW. But my group’s pretty cool. One of the better groups I’ve had thus far. I know I used to complain about the efficiency of the group to my friends but now I actually kinda enjoy their company! Yesterday, we had another meeting, and although not efficient, we had fun… I think I really needed that. We were singing all kinds of songs. And there were lots of head-bobbing involved. Some girls who walked past our room even looked in and laughed and pointed at Benji, who was doing something weird at that very moment!

However, yesterday wasn’t such a great day for SMU Muay Thai. I won’t talk about it…I guess I’m still hoping that everything will go back to normal. I’m still trying to recover from this ‘shock’, which has left many of us very upset. Not been a good week thus far at all. I’m just hoping that today will be a good day, and that the weekend will be even better!

Sleepless

The past few days have been so bad in terms of energy level, mood and everything else in general! Boy, am I glad that at least I’ve gotten IEA out of the way!

Tasks at hand:

– MPW submission of appendix for project (Thursday), presentation next Thursday

– BP Term Paper (By next Monday) which is actually due tomorrow and I haven’t started! Prof sent an email saying that though he would prefer us to hand it in by tomorrow, that he will allow us till next Monday to tidy up. In my case… I hope I can finish it by this weekend.

– IEA meeting and group project (yet to start, don’t even know the question!)

– Marketing meeting (hope it’s not during the weekend)

It’s pretty daunting. I am sleep deprived. I slept an hour on Monday morning and I slept four hours on Tuesday morning. Note that I did not say night. That is because I never get to sleep before midnight. Blame my procrastination and my horrible time management skills.

The sleep deprivation is making me cranky, causing my eyelid to seemingly disappear every now and then, making me slightly ill and worst of all, it’s making me feel bloated! Damn you Cortisol! Still, I went for a run today, followed by some “pull ups” and squats at home. I can’t stand being sedentary for more than two days in a row. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. ARGHHHHH! STRESSED.

I really want to blog about the Muay Thai BBQ and all, but I probably have to get back to work now. And I feel really obliged to go for Muay Thai training tomorrow because Mr. President seems angry. I don’t even feel well enough to though ):

I can’t wait for this week to be over. Seriously. I need my life back!

Sleepless

Review: Whimsical Wants – Leopard print bustier dress

Here’s another review! A stunning leopard print bustier dress from Whimsical Wants!

We had the shoot just last weekend and this was the number one choice for me. The moment I laid my eyes on it, I knew I had to get it!

The bottom half of this dress is made of very soft, silky matte satin and comes with inner lining. Very flouncy! 😀

Cindy and Ivy raided my closet after mugging and we had lots of fun trying on lots of clothes! Ivy likes this dress a lot too (: And I think she looks fab in it, though being 15cm taller than me, the dress becomes a tunic for her. But this dress… is HOT. Hehe!

Look at the lovely lace detail on the bust! The top half of the dress is made of really stretchy cotton so it’ll still fit up to a UK 8 in my opinion. It’s also padded at the bust but I’d definitely recommend still wearing a bra as under strong light, the top portion is a little translucent, probably because the top is stretched so much!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality of this dress and the workmanship is really amazing too. And oh… Did I mention that the belt comes with the dress as well? You can use it every day with your shorts, jeans, or use it as a waist belt with dresses.

The perfect party dress! Two thumbs up! (:

My other recommendations from the launch:

A reversible dress in navy and baby pink. 2 dresses for the price of 1!

I really love the orange. And the material of this dress is superb!

Tomorrow is SMU Muay Thai’s BBQ. I’m gonna be wearing an unreleased top from Whimsical Wants. Can’t wait! Watch out for it (:

Love,

Maddie

Best Thai food

Had dinner at Sunshine Plaza yesterday. Was really good food and great company.

The Thai place is called Aroy Dee, which actually translates to ‘yummy’ or ‘delicious’. Indeed the food was yummy and priced really reasonably, although nothing compares to the prices we had back in Phuket over the summer! These 3 dishes cost us $22. There are sizes for the dishes, so we decided to go for a big bowl of their famed seafood tom yum. It was really spicy and sour! Probably the best tom yum we’ve had in Singapore, and better than some we tried in Thailand! I’d definitely recommend the Thai red curry and the vegetables too. They are really generous with their ingredients. The soup was chock full of seafood, mushrooms and other goodies! I’d definitely go back for more tom yum the next time (:

I also found out from Cindy today that the owner of Aroy Dee is actually the owner of Hilltop. Not bad!

Well, it’s back to studying for now.
Just found out from my BP prof that he is extending our deadline for the term paper.
GREAT! Means I can dedicate this entire study week to IEA. IEA makes me curse and swear ):
I can’t wait for Saturday. It’ll be studying and then it’s off we go to Kelvin’s house for our Muay Thai BBQ. I hope I can a decent amount of work done by then! Gosh, I can’t wait to just finish that IEA paper. And from next week onwards, I have an extra 0.5 mod starting. Finishing Touch! I’ve done my personality profiling or MBTI, and I’m an ISFJ. I used to be an INTJ in JC. Amazing how we can some experiences can change us, hopefully for the better.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand

People must think we are crazy. We woke up early again on a Sunday to go for another WOD at Crossfit Hub.

“Grace” was our warm up. I’m only at 45% of my bodyweight. I need to go heavier soon. Next time!

Partnered Jensen for the WOD, which was 5 rounds of double unders, burpees, sit ups, squats and pull ups. I think the double unders were the toughest! 1 DU = 3 singles. I can only manage 25 DUs in a row so using some simple calculation… (50-25) x 3 = 75 singles. Hahaha! Not so easy to calculate when you’re so gassed out!

After the WOD, we headed outside for some tyre flipping!

SOOO HEAVY!

Check out the cool shadow!

After the WOD at CF Hub, we walked around town. I’m proud to say I didn’t buy any more clothes today. I have way too many and it’s really time to clear. I have over 200 articles of clothing in my closet and it’s in a big mess ): I need to sell them… I think I’ve wasted so much money over the past 2 years. The money only dwindles. SAD!

It’s officially the end of the weekends. This coming week I’ve got to devote to studying. I am so thankful for having seminar rooms to study in for the entire week! I used the Muay Thai account to book. Hehe. Welfare. I hope there won’t be too many people cos we all know it’s going to get too noisy and it will no longer be conducive to study in. I need to mug for my IEA and I’ve got a term paper to finish for BP! JIAYOU MADDIE!!!

Morning Marketing 101 meeting then it’s off to train at Hilltop (I don’t care, I’m still going to call it Hilltop!), then back to school again to mug mug mug! I really need to do this!

I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Train Train Train

Headed to Woodlands Stadium for some hardcore sprints again. Oh man, my legs are so tired now. And tomorrow’s another WOD at Crossfit Hub. I’m gonna be so sore again, I bet. I hope I can still make it to Muay Thai training on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.

We had some KFC after. It’s been a long time since we last had KFC. Just some terrible craving for protein after the workout. Sprint sprint sprint!

Met up with the primary school mates at Causeway Point for a little bit. I think we need to organise a proper one during the next holiday. There’s lots of catching up to do!

Everyone looks great! (:

Ok I’m so beat. I’ve packed my closet.

I know.. What a mess!

Alright, am so tired. Gotta rest my body for a crazy workout at noon!

Nighty night!

Love,

Maddie
